Saturday Night in Toledo, Ohio
(Randy Sparks)
Saturday night in Toledo Ohio
Is like being nowhere at all
All through the day, how the hours rush by
You sit in the park, and you watch the grass die
Oh, but after the sunset, the dusk and the twilight
When shadows of night start to fall
They roll back the sidewalks precisely at ten
And the people who live there are not seen again.

Daryl Hall is a good guy. With his bro, John Oates, they managed to out hit every other top recording duo in history. Simon & Garfunkel and the Everly Brothers can't touch 'em...
Sure the Hall & Oates hit machine of the 80's got pretty sickening after a while... hell man they found the formula and worked it. But his counter balance of risky measures on solo works truly made me a fan.
His works w/ Robert Fripp, George Harrison and Todd Rundgren all are incredible and somewhat experimental. So much so that RCA refused to release his first solo LP 'Sacred Songs' for five years for fear of tarnishing his 'pop image' and scaring away fans.
He took this effort so far that he actually makes fun of being a pop musician, in the song '4/4 time'.
Anyway, the guy grew up in Philly during the 60's... where soul music was the shit! (remember Soul Train?) He has remained true to his love for that sound and I guarantee you can't name a better 'blue eyed soul' artist.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
