a bit of a rant...which I believe to be of some import...

There are many ways to describe Watergate...
I like to keep things simple and stay very close to the facts...

So here is my view…

There has never been a time when the Constitution was more threatened.
Period.
Never.

Revisionist historians already are trying to put things in a different, modern context.
These attempts are misguided and do not serve the people well.

G. Gordon Liddy and Pat Buchanan can scream from the rooftops about Mark Felt.

G. Gordon Liddy was the overblown “loyalist” diehard spare part.
Pat Buchanan still is. And so, we are left with "The President's Men"...

Who never once thought...

...to speak calmly with us and explain all manner of things...since of course we are too frickin' stupid to understand the conversation when some fat ass from Washington
sitting in a plush armchair wants to tell us about...anything?
Only now they feel like screaming...
And scream they will.

Because a Republican President came so very close to complete subversion of all the freedoms Americans hold near and dear to their hearts.

What were Mark Felt’s choices?

1. He could have walked into his boss's office and said that the investigation was leading to the White House. His boss was L. Patrick Grey…the Director of the F.B.I.
And, it is important to note, a hand picked puppet of Nixon’s own choosing.

2. If he had done so, the institution he believed in and loved and everyone in it would have been discredited by the Nixon administration.
In short, he would have been hurting the very thing he had given his life to.

3. He chose not to do that. He chose to help the American people understand what was really happening and let them decide.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I am grateful to Mr. Felt….

And you should be too…
As long as there are Americans like this man…
The Constitution will stay alive as a living document.
And the American people can still hold out hope…for better days…
